Baycats Under 16's Explode Early, Crush Rustlers 8-0

The Baycats Under 16’s travelled to Cheltenham and were unfazed by the long drive as they crushed the Rustlers 8-0.

The Baycats made their intentions clear from the onset as Sam Gibbons opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a monster RBI double.

As Cheltenham’s pitcher struggled to find the zone, the Baycats offense capitalised by drawing walks and punishing the pitches that did make it into the strike zone.

As the Rustlers became unravelled in the first innings, aggressive base running by Kurt Wilson saw a dropped pop up by the Rustler’s shortstop turn into a two-base mistake when Wilson made it in to second base standing up before the ball was recovered.

Tom Rigoni and Zac McCaffrey were outstanding as they patrolled centre and right field, running down all of Cheltenham's big hits.

On the mound Kurt and Sam had big days out  pitching scoreless innings and with great glove work from behind  the plate by Thomas Kerr - Chapman, Geelong went on to record an outstanding win.

Hits: Wilson 3, Gibbons, Belfrage
RBI's: Durston, Wilson, Gibbons, Kerr-Chapman, Rigoni, Belfrage

Baycats Under 14's Record First Win, Defeat Panthers 10-4

The Baycats Under 14’s played well to record their first win of the season over the Waverley Wildcats 10 – 4.

Tyson O’Keefe threw four and two-third quality innings, allowing only 5 hits, whilst striking out 3 and recording only one walk.

O’Keefe was assisted by Geelong’s solid defence, which did not record an error. Andrew Medew was great behind the plate, while Keegan Davies and James Wood made some good plays up the middle and Dylan Allitt took some good fly balls at right field.

Tyson was relieved by James Wood and Keegan Davies who did well to pitch out of a tight situation.

James Edwards continued his good form with two hits and a line drive out. Harry Levy backed up his good defence at 3rd base with 2 hits. Andrew Medew, Keegan Davies and Danny Carew also recorded hits.

All Geelong’s hitters hit the ball hard and forced some Waverley errors in the field. The team continues to improve and it was good to see them record their first win of the season.
